Google recently launched their latest 5G smartphone, namely the Google Pixel 5a 5G, which is a successor to the previous Pixel 4a 5G, launched last year. The Pixel 5a 5G is similar to the Pixel 4a 5G and roughly carries the exact specifications when it comes to design. However, the smartphone is still an upgrade from its previous version, providing a much better experience with a bigger screen, better durability, and a larger battery. As many rumors previously reported, the Pixel 5a, 5G also comes at a lower launch price than the Pixel 4a 5g’s launch price.
For now, Google is only taking pre orders from the US and Japan markets, and the smartphone will start to go on sale from August 26th onwards. Unfortunately, for the global markets, including India, the smartphone will only be sold in the US & Japan, and there are no further plans for its global launch. The smartphone sports a bezel-less display and carries a punch-hole style front camera housing. Additionally, the Pixel 5a 5G will only be available in a sole Black color variant.
Google Pixel 5a 5G Price & Specifications:
The Google Pixel 5a 5G comes with a 6.34-inch FHD+ OLED display that supports a refresh rate of 60Hz. Additionally, the display provides HDR support for crisp color quality. The smartphone runs on Google’s vanilla Android 11 version and is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC. Under the graphics department, the phone is powered by the Adreno 620 GPU for a fluid graphical experience.
The storage option of the smartphone is limited to a sole 6GB RAM plus 128GB storage variant that is priced at $449 (Rs. 33,400). This is $50 (Rs. 3,700) cheaper than the Pixel 4a 5G launch price that was priced at $499 (Rs. 37,100). Another difference between the two smartphones is the battery size, where the Pixel 5a 5G’s battery is sized at 4,680mAh, way more than Pixel 4a 5G’s battery sized at 3,885mAh. Additionally, the durability department of the Pixel 5a 5G comes with a supremely impressive IP67 water resistance & dust-resistance rating.
Pixel 5a 5G’s camera layout includes a dual-camera setup consisting of a 12.2MP primary sensor capable of going as low as f/1.7 perfect for focus-based photography. And the second lens comprises a 16MP ultra-wide sensor which provides a broader FoV than the Pixel 4a 5G’s ultra-wide lens. The front camera consists of an 8MP selfie camera placed in the punch-hole display.
Under connectivity options, the Pixel 5a 5G provides support for 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, the infamous 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Additionally, the smartphone supports 18W fast charging and comes with a fingerprint scanner on the backside of the smartphone.
Concludingly, Google has officially stated that the device will be the last smartphone to come with a brick charger, and they will be eliminating that component from Google’s Pixel 6.
Pixel 5a 5G is a smartphone ideally suited for the mid-range category. It is a very suitable option for someone who wants to experience a Google Android smartphone for a much affordable price. And is definitely an upgrade from its predecessor, the Google Pixel 4a 5G.
